Read 4.1 – The Spirit Helps the Local Church

The only practical manifestation of the body of Christ in this age is the local church. A local
“church” is not a building, a worship service or a denomination. Rather it is a group of believers who
assemble together regularly to worship God, study his word and reach out to the lost as a spiritual family.
The New Testament supplies numerous examples of the Holy Spirit working through local churches.
Although the Spirit blesses every individual believer in the body of Christ, it is his desire to work in and
through local assemblies of believers.
